The world's first 630°C secondary reheat ultra-supercritical 1,000 MW coal-fired power unit has commenced operation

On June 8, the No. 1 unit of the Datang Yuncheng 630°C National Power Demonstration Project completed a 168-hour full-load trial run and officially entered commercial operation. The unit was developed and supplied by Dongfang Electric Group, featuring three major main equipment units and key auxiliary machinery. Its core parameters set new global records: reheated steam temperature at 631°C, main steam pressure at 35.5 MPa, power generation efficiency at 50.05%, and coal consumption as low as 245.74 grams per kilowatt-hour. Compared to conventional megawatt-scale units, this unit can save approximately 208,000 tons of standard coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 540,000 tons.

This project features the highest parameter 1,000 MW secondary and tertiary reheating unit in the country and was included in the fourth batch of the National Energy Administration's list of first-of-its-kind major technological equipment in the energy sector. Dongfang Boiler employed the world's first three flue gas damper secondary reheating temperature regulation technology, while Dongfang Turbine pioneered the use of new martensitic heat-resistant steel rotors. The motor is capable of maximum continuous output of 1,100 MW for long-term operation and deep load regulation from 0% to 100%
